Promotional lighters have been a familiar part of the Swiss promotional-product mix for decades. They may suit a bar, café, tobacconist, petrol-station shop or Q4 campaign when a small, functional takeaway fits the audience. This guide helps you compare Cricket models, decoration methods and quantities.
When a promotional lighter makes sense
Lighters aren’t suitable for every audience, but they can make sense for certain groups. Possible uses include:
- Bar, café or restaurant: On a counter or in a smoking area. Guests may take one away, making the logo visible outside the venue too.
- Tobacconist or kiosk: A lighter can complement tobacco products. Adding the shop’s own branding makes it recognisable on the item.
- Petrol-station shop: A small gift for regular customers, sometimes paired with a loyalty-card scheme.
- Q4 mailings and trade-fair giveaways: The small size and low weight may suit distribution at a trade-fair stand. For mailings, check shipping and safety requirements first.
Before a campaign, check whether lighters fit your audience and which shipping and safety rules apply. Our promotional-products guide explains which product category suits which audience .

Cricket models at a glance
Cricket has been an established promotional lighter in Europe since the 1970s. We check available Cricket models and colours for each order, including availability for repeat orders.
- Cricket Original: The classic shape with a sturdy spark wheel, available in a range of body colours. An option to consider for bars, cafés and mailings.
- Cricket Original Metal: A metallic-looking body with the same ignition mechanism. An option for tobacconists and higher-end campaigns.
- Cricket Original Eco: A version with components marketed as Eco. We check material details and sustainability evidence for the exact model.
- Cricket Mini: A smaller design for narrow pockets or mailing envelopes. The print area is smaller than on the Original.
- Cricket Maxi: A larger version with more print space and a burn time that depends on the model. An option for tobacconists and boutique bars.
- Cricket Electronic: Electronic ignition instead of a spark wheel. Often available with distinctive finishes such as matte, gold or white, subject to the current range.
We confirm the precise model and stock availability with the supplier before each order. Special Cricket editions may face seasonal shortages.

Choosing a model by use
| Use | Best choice | Alternative | Method |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bar / café / restaurant | Cricket Original | Cricket Maxi (premium venue) | Pad printing after checking the design |
| Tobacconist / kiosk | Cricket Original Metal | Cricket Electronic | Pad printing or digital sleeve |
| Petrol-station shop | Cricket Original | Cricket Original Neon (eye-catching) | Pad printing in 2-3 colours |
| Q4 mailing | Cricket Mini | Cricket Original Eco (check material details) | Pad printing after checking the design |
| Trade-fair giveaway | Cricket Original | Aluminium lighter (premium) | Pad printing or laser engraving |
| Premium gift | Aluminium lighter | Cricket Electronic Gold | Laser engraving |
| Full-colour design (logo + photo) | Cricket Original with a digital sleeve | Cricket Maxi with a sleeve | Digital 360° label |
This table is a starting point. A retro-looking lighter or a fixed brand colour may call for a different model.
Pad printing on Cricket lighters
Pad printing has long been used on Cricket lighters. A silicone pad picks up ink from an etched plate and transfers it to the slightly curved body. We check the print area and possible colours for each model and design.
Strengths: Sharp results for small logos. Durability depends on the surface, ink and use. The method can print on curved surfaces. Repeat orders can use the same design, subject to the current product and setup.
Limitations: Setup costs apply per colour and side. For full-colour designs, we compare available methods and costs for the exact model. Halftones and fine gradients are limited.
Planning quantities: Minimum quantities and price breaks depend on the Cricket model and configuration. For a bar or café, choose a quantity based on expected demand and budget.
Digital sleeves and 360° labels

If you want a full-colour logo, photo, gradient or several designs in one order, a digital sleeve may be an option. It is a printed label that wraps 360° around the body.
Strengths: Several colours and design variants may be possible, depending on the quote. This can suit clubs with different sponsor logos or bars with several brands on the counter. The 360° area extends beyond the front and back.
Limitations: The sleeve has a visible join. Friction, such as keys rubbing against it in a pocket, can wear the edges. Lighters must not go in a dishwasher. We compare unit prices for the model, design and quantity.
Good fit: For full-colour artwork or multiple variants, we check digital sleeves and available direct-printing methods for the chosen model. The specific quote sets out possible quantities, appearance and costs.
Premium aluminium and laser engraving
If you want a considered premium gift instead of a counter giveaway, an aluminium lighter with laser engraving may be worth considering. We check whether the model is refillable and what can be engraved from its product specifications.
Strengths: An aluminium model has a different weight and feel from a plastic Cricket. Engraving can be durable on suitable metal. Refillability and useful life depend on the model. It may suit conference gifts, anniversary gifts or gifts for regular tobacconist customers.
Limitations: We compare unit prices for the models and quantities you want. Laser engraving is monochrome and cannot print colours. The logo needs to be supplied as vector artwork.
Quantities: Quantity, setup and unit price depend on the aluminium model and engraving. For larger orders, we can also compare printed Cricket models.
Quantities and costs
- Under 500 pieces: Compare pad printing, other suitable methods or an aluminium model against actual minimum quantities and quotes.
- 500 to 2’500 pieces: Pad printing can suit simple designs; the most economical choice depends on the model and quote.
- 2’500 to 10’000 pieces: Consider pad printing with more colours or a digital sleeve for full-colour artwork. Price breaks depend on the quote.
- Over 10’000 pieces: Check whether direct printing and sleeves are available for the chosen model and design.
- Over 50’000 pieces: For very large orders, request a separate quote for the model, printing and logistics.
Our broader guide to quantities across promotional products is in the promotional-products guide under minimum quantities. For Cricket lighters, we confirm the minimum and setup costs for the chosen model.
Artwork and preparation
Vector artwork is ideal for pad printing; we check whether existing pixel artwork can be prepared for it. For sleeves, resolution, bleed and file format follow the template for the chosen model.
- Cricket Original print area: We take the exact print area from the template for the chosen model.
- Safety margin: Follow the chosen model’s print template for the distance from the body edge, as pad printing has some tolerance.
- Colours: Specify them as Pantone Solid Coated or CMYK. We check printability before confirming the order.
- Reversed-out logos: On a coloured body, the logo can show the body colour through the printed area, creating a striking effect with little ink.
- Sleeve artwork: We can send the template on request. The 360° layout and bleed zones differ by model.
We agree the artwork proof and any possible sample with the manufacturer for the specific order.

Planning example: bar opening
Planning example: A bar wants 1’000 branded lighters for its opening, with a look that matches the mugs in the same order. The brief calls for clear bar branding, a black body and a two-colour white and orange logo.
For this planning example, we could check a black Cricket Original with the two-colour logo on the front and a single-colour social handle on the back. Lead time and unit price depend on the model, quantity and approval.
The example shows what to record for a possible repeat order: model, colour, design and current availability. We confirm costs and dates for each order.
Order Cricket Original directly in the shop
If a Cricket Original with 1-colour pad printing and a standard blank colour fits your brief, you can configure it in the shop from 500 pieces. All quantity tiers are shown, with setup and duty-paid shipping within Switzerland included.
Frequently asked questions
Which Cricket model suits a simple logo?
Cricket Original may suit a simple logo. Depending on the look you want and current availability, we can also check Original Metal or Electronic. We compare prices and print areas for the models.
How long does pad printing last on a Cricket lighter?
Durability depends on the surface, ink and friction. Printing on heavily handled areas can wear; no general lifespan can be promised.
Can I mix different Cricket models in one order?
That depends on minimum quantities and availability. We clarify setup costs for each model and design in the quote.
Are Cricket lighters dishwasher-safe?
No. Lighters must not go in a dishwasher. Heat and water can damage the lighter and ignition mechanism; an aluminium model is not an alternative for this.
What are typical lead times?
Lead time depends on the model, availability, quantity and decoration. Tell us your preferred date for a specific answer.
Do the lighters come filled or empty?
We clarify whether the chosen model is filled, how it can be shipped and any transport costs for your delivery location in the quote.
Can you supply small quantities under 500 pieces?
For smaller quantities, we check the Cricket model’s minimum and alternatives such as an aluminium model or another promotional product. The design, availability and quote determine what’s possible.
Lighters for your bar, tobacconist or mailing campaign?
Send us your logo, preferred Cricket model, if you have one, and quantity. We’ll check the model, decoration and availability, then send you a quote.
